Osteothai for the Main Joints
General Description
WHAT IS OSTEOTHAI?
Osteothai is the integration of osteopathic principles and techniques into Thai massage, a bridge between East and West. It’s a form of bodywork that combines extraordinary creative and powerful Thai massage techniques with the precise and gentle touch of Osteopathy.
Osteothai is practiced on the floor; the patient wears light comfortable clothing. The therapist uses not only their hands but also their feet, knees and elbows. This makes for a rich and colourful approach.
Osteothai combines:
Traditional Thai massage’s varied and powerful stretches, using long leverage techniques across myofascial chains (inspired by yoga postures); and its acupressure work on energy lines and the creativity of dynamic movements of traditional Thai massage.
Osteopathy’s release of tissue tension and work on restriction of mobility.
Osteothai has been created by David Lutt and Arno L’hermitte, two French osteopaths in love with Thai massage. Each of them has then developed the concept according to their views and inspirations, allowing Osteothai to be a living and constant evolution.
ABOUT THIS MODULE: OSTEOTHAI FOR THE MAIN JOINTS
The joint system is often forgotten in Thai massage. Thai massage works around the joint, mainly its tendinous system, but tends to leave out the joint itself.
On the other hand, Osteopathy helps to release the energy blocked in the joints. Thus the energy released will allow the patient’s body to gain vitality and to use it for a faster recovery.
This course allows the student to develop a more precise touch and a better understanding of joint biomechanics.
Movement and mobility, the real obsession of osteopaths, will be back, together with rhythm, coordination and joint integrity. This class will give you precise techniques and useful tools to treat and free joints including ankle, knee, hip, shoulder, wrist and/or elbow.
During this 5-day course, we will focus on :
- RESTORING JOINT MOBILITY
- THE PRINCIPLES OF ARTICULAR GENERAL TREATMENT
- ACTIVE VS. PASSIVE APPROACHES
- AXIS
– PERIPHERY INTEGRATION

The course will be taught by Bojan Babić, assisted by Alfonso Cazenave.
